OPENING NIGHT | SPOTLIGHT ON KOREA | U.S. PREMIERE 1448, Joseon Dynasty – The
Ming Dynasty's meddling into Joseon's domestic affairs goes to extremes,
as King Sejeong secretly plans to develop the "Singijeon"
(the divine weapon), a super-weapon of insurmountable power. The Ming
quickly dispatch assassins to attack the secret construction facility,
and in turn, Choi Hae-san, the inventor, sacrifices himself and blows
up the site. His daughter, Hong-li (also an engineering genius), by
order of the King, is taken into hiding to meet up with a peddler named
Sul-ju, the head of a merchant gang, who has clandestine ties with the
king's family. She is told to continue her late father's mission to
complete construction. Desperate to understand the facts of "Singijeon,"
the Ming bifurcate its army, sending an envoy to intimidate the king
and another envoy to hunt down the slain engineer's daughter and her
bandit protector. Will Hong-li fulfill her father's work in the completion
of the "divine weapon"? The most anticipated Korean historic
action epic of the year!
